About Me

I am a senior inventive scientist working at AT&T Labs research. Before I joined AT&T, I was a postdoctoral research scholar in the Department of Electrical Engineering at the Princeton University. I received my Ph.D., M.Phil., and B.Eng. degrees from the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.

Research Interests

Edge Computing

My main research interests are in the architecture design of the edge computing platform. Specifically, I focus on the orchestration layer and the control plane design of the geo-distributed edge computing networks.

Cloud Computing

I am interested in resource allocation and management problems in cloud computing systems. I worked on the VM workload consolidation problems which assign VMs to their appropriate hosts according to affinity and hardware constraints.

Big-Data Analytics

I am particularly interested in designing deadline-aware job schedulers for big-data analytic systems such as Hadoop and Spark. I also actively work on the economic side of the problems such as incentive compatible pricing mechanism.

Optimization Tools

Optimization programming is the main tool that I used in my research. I enjoy developing new optimization framework and techniques to solve practical engineering problems.

My previous research topics also cover various areas such as smart grid, EV charging, 4G LTE networks, and P2P video streaming.
